M’Lop Tapang’s Community Shelter is located in Phnom Keiv, one of the poorer areas of the Sihanoukville where many impoverished families live.
“If not for here there wouldn’t be a place for them to study or play.” said84 year old Sreymom who brings seven of her grandchildren, ages 1 year to 14 years old, to the neighborhood Community Shelter every day.
The Community Shelter offers daily informal education for children in the local are who cannot attend regular public school. As well, some children who do go to public school attend classes at the Shelter to supplement their studies. There is plenty of space available for sports and recreation, and a day time Baby Care Program for working parents and free English language lessons in the evenings.
