24 year old Sreykhouch* and her husband live with their two young sons, aged 2 and 3 years old, in a small room they rent for $50/month.  Her husband has been looking for work, but for now Sreykhouch is the sole income provider for the family.

Until earlier this year Sreykhouch was employed as a cook in a local hotel, working eight hours a day with a salary of just 130$ per month, less than she needed to support her family.  One day her friend told her about the Futures program and she decided to visit the office and see if they could help her find a better job.  With the help of the Futures team, Sreykhouch is now working as a cook in a local factory and half days preparing breakfasts and lunches.  She now has a scheduled day off every week and a starting salary of $200 that increased to $250/month after a three month probation period.  With the increased income and less working hours Sreykhouch can now better provide for her family’s needs as well as spend more time with her young children.

In 2016, the Futures team assisted 145 people with finding safe employment in the local area.
