8 year old Sinat*entered a classroom for the very first time recently. Born into a very poor family (her father is a fisherman and her mother fixes fishing nets down by the port) Sinat’s parents could not afford to send her to study.
The little girl is one of the newest children to join hundreds of others in M’Lop Tapang’s “Bridging Program”, a non-formal education program that helps children who have never been to school catch up with their studies so that they can be reintegrated into local public schools with confidence. As part of the program Sinat receives transport to and from her house to our Education Center, hot meals, health care, structured learning activities, as well as the chance to have fun and interact with other children. Social workers will continue working with her entire family.
