20 year old Rith* was one of seven children growing up in a poor family in the rural countryside. His father died when Rith was just a young boy and his mother struggled to support the family. Rith dropped out of school in Grade 6.

In 2016, Rith joined M’Lop Tapang’s vocational training program to study cooking. He now has a full time job working as a cook at a local hotel with a steady salary of $300/month. His new job also provides him with accommodations and meals.

I am feeling happy that M’Lop Tapang gave me the chance to learning cooking skills. I want to have two or three years of experience working outside and then I will apply to work in Sandan (MT’s training restaurant) to teach students in the next generation.
